Über Birchwood Bowling
Birchwood Bowling is ten-pin bowling in Otis the otter's boathouse on a quiet lake: a polished birch lane, lanterns strung under the rafters, the moon in the windows and ten cream pins with green bands waiting at the end. Otis bowls on the lane next to yours at the same time, just like at a real alley, so you never wait for him; his pins crash while you line up your next ball.
Every ball is your call. Choose where you stand, which arrow to roll over, how much the ball curls and how hard you throw it, then stop the release needle. The lane is oiled for the first eleven metres, so the hook only bites near the pins, and the oil wears thinner as the game goes on. Play Otis on Easy, Medium or Hard, share one screen with a friend in 2 Players, or try the Daily spares: the same ten leaves for everyone each day.
So wird gespielt
- Drag the ball left or right along the foul line to pick your starting spot, and drag the green marker on the arrows to aim. The dotted line shows where the ball will go: green while it skids on the oil, gold where the hook takes it.
- Set the hook from 3 left to 3 right (Straight in the middle) and the speed from Soft to Fast. A faster ball hits the pins harder and curls less, but its release needle swings faster.
- Tap ROLL, then tap again to stop the needle. In the green middle the ball goes exactly where you aimed; further out it is pulled left or right.
- Standard scoring: ten frames of two balls. A strike (all ten with the first ball) scores 10 plus your next two balls, a spare (all ten with two balls) scores 10 plus your next ball. A strike or spare in the tenth frame earns bonus balls, so a perfect game is 300.
- Beat Otis to win the game. Your points are your pinfall times the level (×1 Easy, ×2 Medium, ×3 Hard), plus 100 times the level for a win. You have three hearts: a lost game costs one, a win gives one back.
- Daily spares: ten leaves, one ball each. Clear as many as you can and come back tomorrow to grow your streak.
Steuerung
- Tastatur
- Left and right arrows move your starting spot, A and D move your aim on the arrows (hold Shift for a finer step), W and S change the hook, up and down change the speed. Space or Enter starts the release needle and Space again lets go. During a roll Space hurries it along. M switches between Easy, Medium, Hard and 2 Players, N starts a new game and T opens the Daily spares.
- Touch
- Drag the ball along the foul line to move it and drag the marker on the arrows to aim. Tap the minus and plus buttons to set hook and speed. Tap ROLL, then tap anywhere to stop the needle. Tap during a roll to hurry it.
Tipps
- Aim for the pocket: just right of the head pin, with the ball curling left into it. Straight balls that hit the head pin full on often leave splits.
- Find a line that works and stick to it, then nudge your aim one step at a time as the oil wears out and the hook starts earlier.
- For spares, start on the opposite side of the lane and roll a straight ball across it at the pins that are left.
- If you keep missing the green, drop the speed by one: the needle slows down and an accurate medium ball beats a wild fast one.
- Watch Otis's scorecard: when he is ahead late in the game, you need strikes, not safe spares.
