O grze Makowe Domino

Poppy Dominoes is the classic game of dominoes for two, played with a full double-six set of 28 tiles on a blue picnic blanket in a poppy meadow. You play against Fennel the hare, who wears a poppy behind one ear. Every number has its own pip colour as well as the usual pip pattern, so the tiles are easy to read even when they are small.

Choose one of three classic ways to play. Draw lets you take tiles from the boneyard when nothing fits, Block has no boneyard so you simply pass, and All Fives scores points during the hand whenever the two open ends add up to a multiple of five. Fennel plays at Easy, Medium or Hard, and every day there is a Daily deal: the same shuffle for everyone, one hand of Draw against Medium Fennel.

Jak grać

  1. Each of you gets seven tiles; the rest are the boneyard. In the first hand of a match the highest double opens the line (with no double, the heaviest tile). After that, whoever won the last hand leads with any tile.
  2. On your turn, play a tile with a number that matches one of the two open ends of the line. Tiles that fit lift up in your hand. If a tile fits both ends, both ends glow and you pick one. Doubles lie across the line.
  3. If nothing fits, Draw and All Fives make you take tiles from the boneyard until one does; when the boneyard is empty, or in Block, you pass.
  4. The hand ends when someone plays their last tile. They score the pips left in the other player's hand. If neither of you can play, the hand is blocked and whoever holds fewer pips scores the other's pips. In All Fives, hand points are rounded to the nearest five, and every play that makes the open ends add up to 5, 10, 15 and so on scores that total; a double at an end counts both halves.
  5. The first to 50 points wins the match (100 in All Fives). Your score is every point you make, doubled on Medium and tripled on Hard, plus 100 for each match you win, also doubled or tripled. You have three hearts: losing a match, or giving up a match you have started, costs one, and winning a match gives one back. When the last heart is gone, the game is over.

Klawiatura
Click a tile in your hand to play it, or drag it onto a glowing end of the line. Click the boneyard to draw. The left and right arrow keys move a cursor along your hand and Space or Enter plays that tile; when it fits both ends, the left or right arrow picks the end. D draws, U takes back your last move, H shows a hint, N starts a new match and T opens the Daily deal.
Dotyk
Tap a tile in your hand to play it, or drag it onto a glowing end of the line. Tap the boneyard pile next to Fennel to draw a tile. Undo, Hint, New and Daily sit below your hand, and the two buttons next to the hearts switch the rules and Fennel's level.

Wskazówki

  • Play your heavy tiles, like the 6-5 and the doubles, early. If Fennel goes out first, every pip still in your hand counts for him.
  • Keep a spread of numbers in your hand so you can follow whatever end Fennel leaves you.
  • Watch what Fennel passes on. If he passed when the ends were 3 and 5, leaving those numbers open can force him to pass again.
  • In All Fives, check the total of the open ends shown above the line before you play. Setting up a 10 or 15 for yourself is worth more than dumping one heavy tile.
  • You get three undos and three hints per match, so save them for a big moment.
